About this tool
Logos, stickers and icons downloaded from the web often arrive as WebP, yet design tools, slide decks and messengers are happier with PNG. Converting to PNG is the safe choice when an image has a transparent background or sharp edges: PNG stores every pixel exactly, alpha channel included, so nothing gets blurred or filled in.
Hushdesk decodes the WebP and writes the PNG on your own device. Drop one file or a whole batch, press Convert and save the results. Keep in mind that PNG is lossless but not magic: if the WebP was saved with lossy compression, the PNG reproduces that image faithfully rather than restoring detail that was discarded earlier.
-
Alpha channel preserved
Semi-transparent edges and drop shadows are copied exactly, so a logo sits cleanly on any background.
-
Pixel-exact output
PNG compression is lossless: the result decodes to the very same pixels as the WebP.
-
Great for lossless WebP
Graphics saved as lossless WebP convert without a single changed pixel.
-
Nothing to tune
PNG has no quality setting, so there is no slider to adjust and nothing to get wrong.
Questions and answers
Why is the PNG much larger than the WebP?
WebP compresses more efficiently, especially photos. PNG trades size for exactness; for a photograph, JPG is usually the better target, and WebP to JPG is one click away.
Does WebP to PNG keep transparent backgrounds?
Yes. The alpha channel is written as it is, including soft edges and partial transparency.
Can I edit the PNG in Photoshop or GIMP afterwards?
Yes. PNG opens in every image editor, and because it is lossless you can save it again and again without adding compression artefacts.
Is the WebP to PNG conversion done on a server?
No. The WebP decoder and the PNG encoder run as WebAssembly inside your browser tab, and that tab has no network access while it works.
