How it works

  1. 01 Add the original PDF first, then the changed version.
  2. 02 Check the order: the first file is treated as the original.
  3. 03 Press Compare.
  4. 04 Review the highlighted pages and download the comparison PDF.

About this tool

Got a “final” contract back and not sure what the other side changed? Add the original and the new version, and Hushdesk renders both documents page by page and compares them pixel by pixel. Pages that differ are listed with the changed areas outlined: content that disappeared is shown in red, new content in green, on a faded copy of the original page. You also get a PDF with only the changed pages, handy for a review meeting or for an email about one specific clause. Because the comparison is visual, it catches edits to text, figures, signatures, stamps and pictures alike.

  • Red and green at a glance

Removed ink is red, added ink is green, and every changed region gets a blue frame, so even a moved decimal point stands out.

  • Only the pages that changed

The comparison PDF contains just the differing pages, labelled with their page numbers from the documents you compared.

  • More than text

A replaced logo, a new stamp, a signature that went missing: anything that changes how a page looks is detected.

  • Both files stay with you

Two drafts of a confidential agreement never travel over the internet: rendering and comparison run inside your browser.

Questions and answers

Does the comparison look at the text or at how the pages look?

At how they look. Both PDFs are rendered to images and compared pixel by pixel, with anti-aliasing noise filtered out. That finds changes in any kind of content, but a paragraph that merely moved further down also shows up as a difference.

What if a page was inserted in the middle?

Pages are compared by position: page 5 against page 5. After an inserted or deleted page the rest are shifted, so they will all be reported as changed. Remove the extra page first with Remove pages, then compare again.

Can I compare two scanned documents?

You can, but two scans of the same paper are never pixel-identical: tiny shifts and noise make most pages look changed. The tool works best on PDFs made from the same source, such as two exports of a Word file.

Why was no comparison PDF created?

Because no page differs. With nothing to show there is no file, and the result simply says that no differences were found.

Which file should I add first?

The original. Content that exists only in the first file is marked red as removed; content that exists only in the second file is marked green as added.

Are my two files uploaded for the comparison?

No. Both documents are opened, rendered and compared on your device in an isolated frame without network access, and they are gone when you close the tab.

What does the precision setting change?

The resolution of the comparison: 72, 100 or 150 dpi. Higher precision catches smaller details, such as a changed comma in a footnote, but takes longer on long documents.
