About this tool

Questions and answers
Can you unlock a PDF if I forgot its password?
No. Hushdesk removes a password only when you type it; it does not try to guess or crack passwords. Files that open without a password but block printing or copying need no password here.
Why can I open my PDF but not print or copy from it?
Its author added restrictions protected by a separate permissions password. Viewers obey them. Unlocking the file here removes them, and you do not need to know that password.
Is it legal to remove protection from a PDF?
Removing it from your own documents, or from files you are allowed to use, is fine. Do not use it to get around restrictions someone else placed on content you have no rights to; you are responsible for how you use the result.
Does an unlocked PDF keep its digital signature?
No. Any change to a signed PDF makes its signatures invalid, and the result warns you when that happens. Keep the signed original if you need to prove authenticity.
Where is the password I type sent?
Nowhere. Only the engine in this browser tab uses it, the browser blocks that engine from the network, and the password is not stored.
