How it works
- 01 Choose or drop up to 50 images: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, GIF or BMP.
- 02 Pick the output format: JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
- 03 Adjust the quality, or the background colour for transparent areas, if you need to.
- 04 Press Convert and download the images one by one or as a ZIP.
About this tool
A form accepts only JPG, a designer asks for PNG, and your website loads faster with WebP or AVIF. This converter changes the format of photos, screenshots and graphics without sending them anywhere: Hushdesk decodes and re-encodes every file inside your browser, so private pictures are never uploaded.
Drop in JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, GIF or BMP files, choose the target format and, if needed, the quality. Photos are turned upright from their EXIF orientation, colour profiles stay attached, and camera and GPS details are removed unless you ask to keep them. Download each result separately or everything as one ZIP.
-
Four output formats
JPG for compatibility, PNG for lossless graphics, WebP and AVIF for light web images. Each encoder is a proven open-source codec compiled to WebAssembly.
-
Batch conversion
Convert up to 50 files in one go. A multi-page TIFF becomes one image per page, numbered in order.
-
Upright and true to colour
The EXIF rotation is applied to the pixels, so sideways phone photos come out straight, and embedded colour profiles are kept so tones do not shift.
-
Private by default
Files are processed in an isolated frame whose network access is blocked by your browser. Location and camera data are stripped unless you switch on Keep metadata.
The formats at a glance
- JPG: opens everywhere and keeps photos small, but has no transparency.
- PNG: lossless and transparent, ideal for screenshots and logos, heavy for photos.
- WebP: roughly a quarter lighter than JPG at similar quality, with transparency; every current browser shows it.
- AVIF: the most efficient of the four, slower to create, and still unknown to some older apps.
- TIFF, GIF, BMP: accepted as input; turn them into one of the formats above to share or publish them.
Questions and answers
Which image format should I choose?
Use JPG for photos that must open anywhere, PNG for screenshots, logos and anything with sharp edges or transparency, WebP for web pages that need small files, and AVIF when the smallest size matters and your visitors use current browsers.
Does changing the format reduce image quality?
PNG, and WebP at quality 100, are lossless. JPG, lossy WebP and AVIF drop fine detail to save space; at the default quality of 90 the difference is invisible on photos. Turning an already compressed JPG into PNG does not bring lost detail back, it only prevents further loss.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
PNG, WebP and AVIF keep transparency. JPG cannot store it, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour set under More options, white by default.
Can I convert a whole folder of images at once?
Yes: select up to 50 files on a computer or 20 on a phone. Every result keeps its original name with the new extension, and you can download them together as a ZIP.
Are the pictures sent to a server?
No. Decoding and encoding run in WebAssembly inside this page, in a frame your browser prevents from making network requests. You can check it yourself in the developer tools while a batch is converting.
Why did an animated GIF become a still image?
This converter writes single still images, so an animation is saved as its first frame. The result card tells you when that happened.
