How it works

  1. 01 Choose or drop one or more TIFF files, single- or multi-page.
  2. 02 Keep Same as image for the original paper size, or choose A4 or US Letter.
  3. 03 Reorder the files if several TIFFs should follow each other differently.
  4. 04 Press Create PDF and download the document.

About this tool

Scanners, fax servers and document archives love TIFF, especially multi-page TIFF. Most people who receive such a file would rather open a PDF, though: it shows in every browser and phone, prints predictably and is accepted by e-filing portals.

This converter adds every page of every TIFF to one PDF. Because the page size follows the resolution stored in the scan, an A4 sheet scanned at 300 dpi comes out as an A4 PDF page; you can switch to fixed A4 or Letter pages instead. Black-and-white G4 fax pages are stored at 1 bit per pixel and stay tiny, and nothing is uploaded, which is what scanned contracts and records deserve.

  • All pages, in order

A multi-page TIFF adds its pages one after another, and several TIFFs are joined in the order of the list.

  • Real paper size

The resolution of the scan sets the page size, so a letter scanned at 200 or 300 dpi prints at 100%.

  • Tiny black-and-white pages

Fax and bilevel scans are stored at 1 bit per pixel, often only a few kilobytes per page.

  • Lossless

TIFF pages are embedded without lossy compression, so faint handwriting and stamps stay readable.

Questions and answers

Does TIFF to PDF keep all pages of a multi-page TIFF?

Yes. Every page becomes a PDF page in the same order, and several TIFF files are appended one after another.

Why does my PDF page have an unusual size?

With Same as image, the page size comes from the resolution written in the TIFF. If the scanner stored a wrong value, choose A4 or US Letter and each page is fitted to that paper instead.

Will the PDF made from TIFF be searchable?

Not by itself: the pages are pictures of text. Run text recognition (OCR) on the PDF afterwards to make the text searchable and copyable.

Which TIFF compressions are supported?

Uncompressed, LZW, Deflate, PackBits, JPEG and CCITT Group 4, in black and white, gray, RGB and CMYK, with 8 or 16 bits per channel.

Can I convert a fax TIFF on my phone?

Yes, it works in mobile browsers too. Fax pages are small, so even long faxes convert quickly.
