How it works
- 01 Choose or drop the PDF you want to split.
- 02 Pick a method: every N pages, by ranges or extract pages.
- 03 Enter the number of pages per file or the ranges, for example 1-3, 4-9, 10-z.
- 04 Press Split PDF and download the parts one by one or as a ZIP.
About this tool
A 200-page scan that is too big to e-mail, a bundle of invoices that belong in different folders, a book you would rather read chapter by chapter: splitting solves all of these. Pick how to cut the file: every N pages (1 gives one PDF per page), by ranges such as 1-3, 4-9, 10-z, where each range becomes its own file, or extract a selection into a single new PDF.
The parts get tidy names like report_04-09.pdf and download together as a ZIP. Pages are copied without re-encoding, bookmarks stay with the pages they point to, and the whole job happens in your browser.
-
Three ways to split
Fixed-size chunks, your own page ranges, or a single file with just the pages you pick.
-
Clear file names
Each part is named after its pages and zero-padded, so the files sort in the right order in any folder.
-
Bookmarks follow the pages
Every part keeps the bookmarks that point into it: a chapter split out of a book still has its table of contents.
-
Private and lossless
The PDF is cut on your device. Text, fonts and images are copied exactly, without any re-compression.
Which method to choose
- Every N pages for equal pieces: a scan of many one-page forms (N = 1), or a long report you need in parts of 10 pages.
- By ranges when the parts have different lengths, for example chapters or separate invoices.
- Extract pages when you need one new file made of a few pages; the page extractor explains it in detail.
Questions and answers
How do I split a PDF into single pages?
Choose “Every N pages” and leave the number at 1. You get one PDF per page, named with its page number, bundled in a ZIP.
What do the page ranges mean?
Each comma-separated range becomes one file: 1-3, 4-9, 10-z makes three PDFs. The letter z stands for the last page, and a range written backwards, like 5-1, puts its pages in reverse order.
Can I split a large PDF without uploading it?
Yes. Splitting runs in an isolated frame of your browser that has no network access, so even a large or confidential document stays on your computer or phone.
Are the parts smaller than the original file?
Usually, because each part only contains its own pages. Fonts and images shared by many pages are copied into every part that uses them, so all parts together can weigh more than the original.
What happens when I split a password-protected PDF?
Enter the password when asked. The parts are saved without a password, and the result tells you that the protection was removed.
