How it works
- 01 Choose or drop the PDF you want to number.
- 02 Pick the position and the format of the numbers.
- 03 Optionally set which pages to number and the first number, for example 2-z starting at 1.
- 04 Press Add page numbers and download the numbered PDF.
About this tool
Need to number a report, a thesis or a scanned contract before you send it? Choose the PDF, pick where the numbers go and how they read — a plain 1, 2, 3, “1 / 10” or “Page 1 of 10” — and download the result. You can leave the cover unnumbered, begin with any number and change the font size, colour and distance from the edge. Numbers are placed on the page as it is displayed, so landscape and rotated pages get upright numbers in the right corner. Hushdesk does the work inside this browser tab: the document is not uploaded, and its text, links and images stay untouched.
-
Upright on every page
Portrait, landscape and rotated pages all get numbers that read the right way, in the corner you chose.
-
Your numbering rules
Skip the cover, start at 5 or 101, number only a range, or write your own wording around the number.
-
Cyrillic ready
Formats such as “Страница 3 из 12” use an embedded PT Sans font, so the numbers look the same on any computer.
-
Stays on your device
The PDF is read and written by an engine in this tab. Nothing is sent to a server or kept after you close it.
Questions and answers
How do I number a PDF without the cover page?
Type 2-z in “Pages to number” and keep the first number at 1. The cover stays clean and the second page is numbered 1.
Can I show “Page 1 of 10” instead of just the number?
Yes. Choose the “Page 1 of 10” format, or pick “Custom text” and write your own wording, such as “Sheet 3 of 12”; the hint under the field shows how to mark the number.
Will the numbers look right on landscape or rotated pages?
Yes. Positions are measured on the page as you see it, so a landscape page gets its number along the bottom of the landscape view, upright, not along the side.
Can I remove the page numbers later?
Not with this tool: the numbers become part of the page content. Keep your original file if you might need an unnumbered copy.
Does numbering work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. The numbers are drawn on top of the scanned image as real text, so they print sharply and can be found with search.
What if the PDF is password-protected?
Enter the password when asked; it is checked only on this device. The numbered copy keeps the same protection: the same password opens it, and the same permissions apply.
