How it works
- 01 Select one or several .txt files.
- 02 Choose proportional or monospaced text and a font size from 8 to 16 pt.
- 03 Open More options if you need US Letter, landscape pages or a fixed encoding.
- 04 Press Convert to PDF and save the result.
About this tool
A .txt file has no pages, margins or fonts, so it prints differently on every machine and often opens with broken letters. Here each line of your file keeps its place: blank lines, leading spaces and tab stops survive, and a form-feed character starts a new page, the way line printers did it. Choose monospaced mode for server logs, source code or reports aligned with spaces, or proportional PT Sans for notes, lyrics and books. Files saved by old Windows programs in Windows-1251, KOI8-R or Windows-1252 are recognised automatically. Hushdesk does all of this in your browser, without sending the text anywhere.
-
Layout kept line by line
Indents, empty lines and tabs stay where they were; long lines wrap at the margin instead of being cut off.
-
Encoding detective
UTF-8 and UTF-16 with or without a byte-order mark, plus legacy Cyrillic and Western code pages, are told apart without asking you.
-
Two typefaces
PT Mono for column-aligned text and PT Sans for reading; both are embedded, so the PDF looks identical when printed elsewhere.
-
Page breaks you control
A form-feed character in the text file begins a fresh PDF page, handy for exported reports split by section.
Questions and answers
Why does my text file show strange symbols instead of letters?
The file was saved in an older encoding than your editor expects. The converter checks for UTF-8 first and then guesses Windows-1251, KOI8-R or Windows-1252. If the guess is wrong, choose the encoding under More options and convert again.
Will columns in a log or report stay aligned?
Switch the font to Monospaced. Every character then has the same width, so text lined up with spaces keeps its columns. Tabs are expanded to stops every four characters.
How big can a TXT file be?
The limit for computers and phones is shown in the formats table on this page. One megabyte of plain text is roughly two to three hundred pages and usually converts in a second or two.
Can emoji be printed in the PDF?
No. The embedded fonts cover Latin, Cyrillic and common punctuation. Characters outside them, such as emoji or Chinese, are replaced with a question mark, and the result screen lists them.
