About these document converters
Cloud processing and scheduled cleanup are described on Privacy and security. Review that information before uploading a document.
Questions and answers
Why do some conversions need a server?
Word, Excel and PowerPoint files depend on fonts, layouts and formulas that only a full office engine reproduces correctly. That engine (LibreOffice) is far too large for a browser, so these conversions run on our server, and the page tells you before you choose a file.
What happens to a file I send to the server?
Server processing uses a separate container and scheduled cleanup. See Privacy and security for retention and technical limits.
Can I edit a PDF in Word?
Yes. PDF to Word rebuilds paragraphs, headings and lists so the document can be edited. A scanned PDF needs text recognition first: use OCR PDF.
Will the formatting stay the same?
Simple documents convert very closely. Complex layouts with text boxes, unusual fonts or large tables may shift a little, so check the result before you send it.
