About this tool
A PNG straight from a phone screenshot or a design tool can weigh several megabytes: too much for an email attachment, a job portal or a marketplace listing that accepts only JPG. Converting to JPG often makes photographic images five to ten times smaller, while the picture looks unchanged at the default quality of 90.
Everything happens on your device: Hushdesk reads the PNG, fills any transparent areas with the background you choose, and encodes the JPG locally. For drawings, diagrams and text-heavy screenshots, compare the result carefully. JPG softens sharp edges a little, and PNG may be the better format to keep for that kind of image.
-
Much smaller photos
Photographic PNGs often shrink five to ten times as JPG without a visible change.
-
Your background, not black
Transparent pixels are filled with white or the colour you pick, never with an accidental black.
-
Colour-accurate
An embedded colour profile is carried over, so the JPG looks like the PNG on screen.
-
Batch friendly
Convert up to 50 PNG files at once and download them as one ZIP.
Questions and answers
Why convert PNG to JPG at all?
PNG is lossless and therefore large for photos. JPG was designed for photographs: it keeps them looking the same at a fraction of the size, and it is the format most upload forms ask for.
Which quality setting should I use for PNG to JPG?
90 is a safe default. Go down to 75–80 to meet a strict size limit; below 60, blocky artefacts start to appear around edges and in skies. For an exact limit such as 200 KB, Compress image finds the quality for you.
Should screenshots with text stay PNG?
Often, yes. Text and thin lines are where JPG compression shows first. Convert a copy and compare; if the letters look soft, keep the PNG or raise the quality.
What happens to a transparent PNG logo?
JPG cannot be transparent, so the empty areas become the background colour you set, white by default. If you need transparency, convert to WebP instead with PNG to WebP.
