How it works
- 01 Choose two or more PDF files, or drop them onto the page.
- 02 Put the files in the order you want the pages to appear.
- 03 If a file is password-protected, enter its password when asked.
- 04 Press Merge PDF and download the combined file.
About this tool
Need one file for an application, a report pack or a stack of scanned receipts? Add the PDFs, arrange them in the order they should appear and press Merge. Hushdesk copies every page as it is: text stays selectable, images keep their original quality, and the bookmarks of each file are carried over to the right pages of the combined document.
Merging runs in an isolated browser frame on your computer or phone. Before processing confidential documents, check your organization’s rules and permission to use browser tools; local processing alone does not establish compliance.
-
Bookmarks carried over
The bookmarks of each file are rebuilt in the merged PDF and point to the same pages as before, so long documents stay easy to navigate.
-
Nothing re-compressed
Pages are copied, not re-rendered: fonts, vector graphics and photos look exactly like in the originals, and the text remains searchable.
-
Forms keep working
Fillable fields from the source files can still be filled in the combined document.
-
Protected files too
An encrypted PDF is opened with the password you type. The password is checked locally and never stored.
What happens to document properties and signatures
The combined PDF is a new document. It does not copy the title, author or other properties of the source files, and it is not encrypted even when some inputs were.
Digital signatures cannot survive a merge, because the signed bytes change. When a source file was signed, the result warns you about it.
Before and after merging
- Pages in the wrong order? Organize them after merging.
- Only need part of a file? Extract those pages first.
- A file will not open? Try to repair the PDF, then merge it.
- The result has to stay locked? Protect it with a password.
Questions and answers
Are my PDFs uploaded when I merge them?
No. The files are read and joined by an engine that runs in an isolated frame of this browser tab, and your browser blocks that frame from using the network. You can confirm it in the Network panel of the developer tools while the merge runs.
How many files can I combine at once?
Up to 50 PDFs in one go. The practical limit is the memory of your device: large scans merge fine on a computer, while an older phone may be too small for them, and the tool tells you so before it starts.
Will the merged PDF keep bookmarks and form fields?
Yes. Bookmarks are rebuilt for every source file and lead to the correct pages, and fillable fields stay fillable. If a bookmark cannot be carried over, the result says so instead of dropping it silently.
Can I combine password-protected PDFs?
Yes. When a file needs a password, you are asked for it, and it is used on your device only. The merged file itself is not password-protected, so protect it again if it has to stay locked.
Does merging lower the quality of scans?
No. Pages are copied without re-encoding, so images keep their resolution and the size of the result is roughly the sum of the inputs.
In what order will the pages be?
In the order of the files in the list, and inside each file in its original order. To move single pages around after merging, open the result in the page organizer.
