Limits on your device depend on its memory. Larger files may still work; the tool warns you first.

How it works

  1. 01 Drop the PDF that the form rejected.
  2. 02 Keep 2 MB, or pick 1 MB if the limit is stricter.
  3. 03 Read the estimate: size, image quality and resolution.
  4. 04 Compress, then upload the copy ending in “_compressed”.

About this tool

Two megabytes is the cap many online forms quietly apply: tax and benefit portals, school and university systems, insurers and HR tools often reject anything larger without saying why. This page opens with a 2 MB target, which leaves most documents of up to a few dozen pages looking clean. Hushdesk measures every image in your PDF, predicts the size and quality before you start, and then re-encodes only the pictures. Text, tables and vector signatures stay untouched and searchable. The file is processed on your device and never uploaded.

  • Room for a stack of pages

At 2 MB, an ordinary black-and-white application scan of a dozen or two pages keeps images sharp enough to read stamps and small print.

  • Decimal megabytes

Our 2 MB equals 2,000,000 bytes, so it fits whether a portal counts a megabyte as 1,000,000 or as 1,048,576 bytes.

  • Nothing leaves the tab

The engine runs in an isolated frame that your browser cuts off from the network, so personal paperwork stays on your computer.

Questions and answers

Which websites limit uploads to 2 MB?

Many public-sector and education portals, job boards and insurance claim forms accept 2 MB per file, and some only tell you once the upload fails. If a form mentions “2 MB” or “2048 KB”, this target fits both readings.

How many scanned pages fit into 2 MB?

Usually a dozen or two pages of an ordinary black-and-white scan at a readable resolution, fewer for colour photos. The estimate gives the exact picture for your file before you press Compress PDF.

The result is 1.85 MB. Why not closer to 2 MB?

The search stops once the file lands just under the target with the best image quality it can reach in a few passes. Going from 1.85 to 1.99 MB would barely change how the pages look, and the margin protects you from portals that round sizes up.

Is it safe to compress an ID scan or a contract here?

Yes. The PDF is opened and compressed inside this browser tab, in a frame without network access, and no account is needed. You can check it yourself while the file is processed.
