  3. 03 Press Convert in cloud.
  4. 04 Download the PDF.

About this tool

ODT is the open standard format of LibreOffice Writer and OpenOffice, and Google Docs can export it too. Many schools, public offices and open-source users exchange documents this way, while the people receiving them often just want a PDF.

Because the conversion runs on LibreOffice itself, on our server (France), an ODT file comes out with its own styles, numbering, footnotes, tables of contents and frames exactly as Writer lays them out. Choose the file, press convert, and download the PDF. The uploaded document is removed immediately after conversion; the PDF follows at the deletion time you selected.

  • Native rendering

No format translation step: Writer opens its own format, so styles, fields and numbering are laid out as in the desktop app.

  • Tables of contents and links

Generated contents, cross-references and web links survive, and the PDF stays searchable because text remains text.

  • Archive-ready on request

Turn on PDF/A to get a PDF/A-2b file with embedded fonts for long-term storage.

Questions and answers

Why convert ODT with LibreOffice rather than another tool?

ODT is LibreOffice’s native format. Rendering it with the same engine avoids the conversion losses of tools that first translate ODT into another format.

Can I also convert ODS spreadsheets or ODP presentations?

Yes, the same converter reads them. Use Excel to PDF for ODS files and PowerPoint to PDF for ODP files.

My ODT file is password-protected. What can I do?

An encrypted OpenDocument cannot be opened without its password, so the job stops with a message. In Writer use File, Save As, clear Save with password, and convert the new copy.

Does the PDF keep my table of contents clickable?

The table of contents is exported with its entries and page numbers. Entries that are hyperlinks in the document remain clickable in the PDF.
