How it works
- 01 Choose an .xlsx, .xls or .ods file.
- 02 CSV is preselected. Under More options pick the separator or a single sheet by name or number.
- 03 Press Convert.
- 04 Download the CSV, or a ZIP with one CSV per sheet.
About this tool
Import forms of CRMs, online shops, mailing services and databases almost always want CSV, and Excel’s own Save As handles only the active sheet and picks a code page based on your system. Here the whole workbook is exported at once: each sheet becomes its own UTF-8 CSV file, collected in a ZIP when there are several, or you name one sheet to get a single file. Cells are written as Excel displays them: formulas give their results, numbers keep their decimals and default short dates become unambiguous 2026-09-30. Choose comma, semicolon or tab as the separator, and keep the byte-order mark on if the file will be opened in Excel again. Old .xls and OpenDocument .ods files work too; Hushdesk converts them without uploading anything.
-
All sheets in one go
Every worksheet is exported to a CSV named after it, so nothing is silently left behind in a tab you did not open.
-
What you see is what you get
Formulas are replaced by their calculated values, numbers keep their decimal places, and dates in Excel’s default short format are written as ISO dates like 2026-09-30.
-
Import-friendly output
UTF-8 with an optional BOM, CRLF line endings and quotes only where RFC 4180 requires them: databases and pandas read it without tweaks.
Questions and answers
How do I convert only one sheet of a workbook to CSV?
Open More options and type the sheet’s name, or its position such as 2, in the Sheet to export field. Leave the field empty to export every sheet into a ZIP archive.
Should the CSV use commas or semicolons?
Use whatever the receiving system documents. Most importers and programming tools expect commas. Excel installations set to German, French or Russian regional settings read semicolons when a CSV is double-clicked.
What does the BOM option do?
It adds three invisible bytes at the start that tell Excel the file is UTF-8, so accented and Cyrillic letters display correctly. Some command-line tools print these bytes as junk; switch the option off for them.
Are formulas exported to the CSV?
No. CSV has no formulas, so each cell holds the result Excel last calculated. A workbook produced by a program that never calculated its formulas may have empty cells there.
