About this tool
RTF is the plain-spoken cousin of the Word format: WordPad and TextEdit save it, legal and accounting programs export it, and old archives are full of it. It opens almost anywhere, yet it rarely looks the same twice.
Upload an .rtf file and LibreOffice on our server (France) lays it out with its fonts, bold and italic text, paragraph indents and simple tables, then writes a PDF you can print or attach. Unicode text, Cyrillic included, is preserved. The upload happens only after you press the button, and the RTF is scheduled for deletion as soon as its PDF is written.
-
Formatting preserved
Fonts, sizes, bold and italic, alignment, indents and basic tables in the RTF are carried into the PDF.
-
Unicode and Cyrillic
Text written with Unicode escapes, as modern editors and exporters do, comes out with the right letters.
-
Good for exported reports
Statements and forms exported as RTF by business software become PDF files ready to sign, send or archive.
Questions and answers
Where do RTF files usually come from?
WordPad on Windows, TextEdit on a Mac, older versions of Microsoft Word, and many accounting, legal and medical programs that export reports as rich text.
Will Cyrillic text in an RTF convert correctly?
Yes, when the file stores letters as Unicode or declares its code page, which current editors do. Very old files written without a declared code page can show wrong letters; re-save them in an up-to-date editor first.
Can I convert a plain TXT file on this page?
This page accepts RTF only. Open the text file in WordPad or TextEdit, save it as RTF or DOCX, and convert that copy.
Are images inside the RTF kept?
Pictures embedded in the RTF are placed in the PDF. Images that the file only links to on another computer are not fetched and stay empty.
