About this tool
Word’s own Save as Web Page produces markup stuffed with mso- styles, font tags and conditional comments that fight with every website theme. This converter goes the other way and keeps only meaning: paragraphs, h1 to h6 from heading styles, strong and em, ordered and unordered lists, tables and links. The result pastes cleanly into WordPress, Ghost, Tilda or any CMS and picks up the site’s own styles. You download a complete .html file with UTF-8 declared, and pictures either sit in an images folder or are embedded as data URLs. Hushdesk converts the document on your device, and dangerous link types such as javascript: are stripped from the output.
-
Semantic markup only
No class soup, inline fonts or Office namespaces: just the tags that describe the content, ready for your stylesheet.
-
Headings mapped from styles
Word’s Heading 1–6 styles become h1–h6, so the page outline and accessibility tools understand the document.
-
Self-contained if you want
Choose Keep inside the file to embed pictures as data URLs and send a single .html that opens anywhere.
Questions and answers
Why not use Save as Web Page in Word?
Word writes presentation markup for its own round trip: mso- CSS, VML shapes and conditional comments. It looks fine in Word, but it overrides your site design. This converter emits plain semantic tags instead.
How do I paste the result into WordPress or another CMS?
Open the .html file in a text editor, copy everything between the body tags and paste it into the HTML or code view of the editor. Upload the pictures from the images folder separately, or embed them when converting.
Does the HTML keep fonts, colours and text alignment from Word?
No, on purpose: visual formatting is left to your website’s stylesheet. Bold, italics, headings, lists, tables and links are preserved.
Is it safe to convert DOCX files I received from others?
The converter reads document structure and filters unsupported link types. It does not certify unfamiliar documents or the exported HTML as safe. Review the output before publishing or opening it elsewhere.
